Scintillation spectrometer for high energy neutrons using hydrocarbon filaments
Nuclear instruments & methods, v 133(3), pp 425-434
1976
Abstract
A scintillator configuration consisting of an array of hydrocarbon scintillation filaments (NE102) surrounded by a CsI(Tl) scintillator is described for detecting high energy neutrons with good efficiency and energy resolution. Pulse shape discrimination is used to distinguish forward proton recoils that are produced and expend their range in the plastic filaments. Prototype measurements are presented which demonstrate the feasibility of this new concept.
