Abstract
The following paper illustrates that the MARC format offers an excellent means of controlling ephemera in the online environment. The examination begins with an overview of the MARC format and the structure of the bibliographic MARC record. The introductory analysis is followed by a discussion of the MARC-AMC and the MARC-VM formats, subject control and subject analysis methodologies, and specific MARC field options for the subject control of ephemera in the online environment.
