Surgical Exposures of the Distal Radius for Fracture Fixation
SurgiColl, v 1(1)
22 Mar 2023
Abstract
Distal radius fractures are among the most common orthopedic injuries. Various open reduction and internal fixation techniques, including volar and dorsal plating, intramedullary nailing, and fragment-specific fixation, have been established for operative management of more complex fracture patterns. In order to achieve safe and adequate exposure of the distal radius and its fracture fragments, surgeons must have a thorough understanding of the regional anatomy and different approaches. This surgical exposures article presents a detailed series of illustrations to serve as a visual guide and anatomic foundation of this common procedure for both surgeons and patients alike.
