Abstract
The tetradentate ligand 1,8-bis(2'-pyridyl)-3,6-dithiaoctane (Pdto) forms a pseudooctahedral structure with rhodium(III). The yellow racemic [Rh(Pdto)Cl-2](CF3SO3) compound belongs to the Pbca space group with a = 13.566(15), b = 15.6588(16), c = 21.473(2) angstrom, and Z = 8. The Rh-S bonds are shorter than is usual, while the pyridine rings are mutually trans and form an interplanar angle of 24 degrees.
