Abstract
A correlational analysis of vital statistics & data from the 1980 US census reveals that the participation of married females (Fs) in the labor force was significantly associated with suicide rates only for married males & Fs. The correlations were opposite for full-time & for part-time work. However, the variable of married Fs working did not increase the power of other social variables in the prediction of state suicide rates & was found to be related to other social characteristics of the states. 3 Tables, 20 References.
