Abstract
The Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia has in its collections 2,907 primary types of Orthoptera distributed as follows among suborders: Saltatoria - 2,340, Mantodea - 81, Phasmatodea - 110, and Blattodea - 376. The collection is made up primarily of New World types and includes most of the types of Lawrence Bruner, Samuel Scudder, Albert P. Morse, James A. G. Rehn, and Morgan Hebard. No complete listing of the primary types existed prior to the present work. Since the collection continues to grow it will be necessary to update the present catalogue from time to time. A preliminary version of the present catalogue which contains a precise transcription of all labels borne by the types was assembled mainly for in-house use. This expanded work will be made available to persons or institutions requiring more detailed type label information than given here.
