Abstract

•There are 5,530,131 children under 18 diagnosed with asthma, representing a prevalence of 7.5% (Center for Disease Control [CDC], 2020).•Children and caregivers can successfully control asthma with little interference in daily activities, still 50.3% of children with asthma do not have adequate control of their symptoms (CDC, 2019a).•Interactive websites and mobile applications offer children and their caregivers information about the pathophysiology of asthma, the triggers, medication use, and symptom monitoring.•Mobile applications used on smartphones can provide medication reminders, increase adherence, track symptoms, exacerbations, and severity, and offer treatment recommendations.•Telemedicine, smartphone applications, and text messaging can increase compliance with follow-up and improve health outcomes for children with asthma.
