Abstract
Consideration is given to the specification of the voltage sensitivity of piezoelectric polymer hydrophones, and a parameter of merit suggested which reflects the quality of the design and construction of the probe. Values calculated for this parameter for probes described in the literature to date vary considerably and emphasize the importance of careful description of the measurement arrangement.
