Abstract
Seed grants are a common way of promoting the development of new research initiatives or targeted projects with the goal, typically, of later applying for larger grants on related issues. Seed grants are typically offered to either target populations (e.g., junior faculty) or to target specific goals (e.g., enabling multiple researchers to develop preliminary data/collaboration toward submitting a larger proposal to another agency, such as the National Science Foundation, federal or state agencies, and industry).
