Abstract
In some cases, the problems have been created by hearing aid dealers with little beyond a high school education, who wear white coats and do not correct patients who address them as "doctor." Otolaryngologists should be proactive with local and state leaders in helping to ensure patient safety through identification of inappropriate conduct and development of effective remedies.
