Vomiting After Alfentanil Anesthesia - In Response
Anesthesia and analgesia, Vol.77(2), pp.407-408
01 Aug 1993
Abstract
Patel and Swami question the ability of this study to conclude that infusions of alfentanil during laparoscopy engender more frequent nausea and vomiting, citing that results of incisional and laparoscopy groups have been combined. In fact, these results were not combined: the logistic regression technique provides separate estimates for the effect of type of surgery (incisional or laparoscopy), the effect of drug administration method (bolus or infusion), and their interaction effect. As reported in the results section, this analysis disclosed an effect of drug administration method independent of type of surgery. [1st paragraph]
