New clinical practice guideline defines ‘faltering weight,’ recommends treatment options

Abstract
Evidence-based recommendations for the evaluation and treatment of children with poor weight gain are provided in a new clinical practice guideline (CPG) from the AAP and the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.
The CPG uses the new term “faltering weight” (FW) instead of “failure to thrive” (FTT), which has no precise definition, is stigmatizing and has unclear standards of care.
