The Kensington Corridor Trust (KCT) initiative, featured by Drexel University's Nowak Metro Finance Lab, was founded in 2019 to address the disinvestment in the Kensington commercial corridor in Philadelphia. KCT focuses on revitalizing the area by acquiring real estate and transferring it to long-term community control. This approach seeks to preserve the neighborhood's cultural identity and affordability while empowering residents economically. KCT aims to counteract external market forces and absentee landlordism by fostering community wealth-building through sustainable redevelopment, local entrepreneurship, and innovative finance models
