Abstract
This research aimed to analyze intergenerational transfer of poverty in two generation of family and it interplay with value of children and parental investment behavior on child. Design of this research combined cross sectional and retrospective study; involved 60 families (as the second generation family) that dwelled in Pasawahan village with the last child was under five years old, split into two social economic status: poor (30 families) and not poor (30 families), base on BKKBN’s family welfare phasing. Both husband and wife were interviewed by using structure questionnaire to obtain the information of both generations of families. This research revealed that value of children affected parental investment on child, while both variables were affected by family social economic status. Parental investment on child was the determinant factor of children welfare in the future. This research estimated that chance of family with husband came from poor family was 38 times higher to be poor also. Some samples experienced status mobility from poor to be not poor, because of education factor (for husband) and also marital factor (for wife).
