About

Anne Dower, PhD, received her PhD in Anatomy at the Penn State College of Medicine, where her primary research interests involved investigating the role of iron regulation and metabolism in health and disease. Specifically, Dower has published work elucidating the role of a key iron regulatory protein, known as HFE, in the pathobiology of macrophages and neurodegenerative diseases. She has demonstrated her knowledge of anatomical and biomedical sciences by educating both medical and pre-medical students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Dower has a passion for mentoring future biomedical scientists and health professionals and explores avenues to find the best methodologies for educating her students. In her free time, Dower enjoys baking, the outdoors and spending time with her family.
