Fred Siegel, Ph.D., began teaching first-year writing as a graduate student in Performance Studies at NYU. He is an administrator, educator, and performer, with a dissertation on vaudeville magicians, a summer as a sideshow “talker,” twenty-five years of experience in comedy improv, and thirty years of teaching composition at Drexel. His administrative career began as Assistant Director of the Computer Composition Group at NYU, to the Assistant Director of the Drexel Writing Center, to his current position as Director of the First-Year Writing Program. He also writes and performs his memoir, Man of Mystery, at Fringe Festivals and other venues.
