Mary Ann Zimmer has over 30 years’ experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings working with infants, children, adolescents and adults. Several specialty areas throughout her career include working extensively providing care and education to patients with cystic fibrosis, asthma, diabetes and chronic obstructive lung disease. She has also worked in staff education at two large teaching hospitals in Philadelphia working with various members of the healthcare team to enhance knowledge and skills to improve patient safety and quality of care. She was instrumental at initiating the rapid response team and an American Heart Association training center within Temple Children’s Hospital. ZImmer worked as adjunct faculty at Drexel for six years prior to taking a full-time position working with students in hospitals throughout the region in both adult and pediatric medical surgical care units. She has a certification in pediatric nursing, is a basic life support instructor and has received education as a pediatric palliative care trainer.
