Opeyemi Oluwatosin Babajide

Opeyemi Babajide, PhD, MSc, is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Urban Health Collaborative. Opeyemi is a doctoral graduate from the Faculty of Public Health, University of Ibadan with a focus in medical demography, and has research interests spanning population dynamics, health disparities, and social determinants of health. She was a research fellow at the 3-D Commission of the Boston University School of Public Health, where she was part of the novel research and conversations on issues of global population health at the intersection of the social determinants of health and data science for better decision-making in megacities. At the Urban Health Collaborative, her research takes a two-prong approach. On a global scale, she seeks to investigate the complexities and understanding dynamics to possibly strengthen non-healthcare systems in African cities for sustainable urban health. Locally, her focus lies in understanding and improving maternal health outcomes among Black immigrant women, particularly within the African immigrant community in Philadelphia. Opeyemi co-leads the Black Immigrant Health Working Group, fostering her dedication to community-led research.
