Dr. DiSesa is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed an internship in medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in cardiothoracic surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital and in cardiac surgery at Children's Hospital in Boston. He earned his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

He has served on the boards of Health Partners, Inc., the Kynett Foundation, and the Hospital and Health System Association of Pennsylvania, and on the Lehigh University Health Systems Engineering Industry Leadership Council. Dr. DiSesa is a member of the Relative Value Scale Update Committee of the American Medical Association (RUC). He is the co-author of two books and has more than 130 publications and 17 book chapters to his credit.
