Vilmaris Quiñones Cardona, MD, MPH, is an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Drexel University College of Medicine. She is associate director of the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship program at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, where she also serves as faculty for the fellowship's Clinical Competencies Committee, as well as the Program Evaluation Committee and the Graduate Medical Education Committee.
Dr. Quiñones Cardona is responsible for the education of medical students, residents and fellows, particularly as a simulation facilitator on topics including neonatal resuscitation, identification and management of numerous neonatal conditions, code communication and leadership. She has streamlined and standardized the handoff process in the St Christopher's NICU. Dr. Quiñones Cardona takes a special interest in teaching extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) to residents and fellows as well as developing visual aids to improve the cannulation process and troubleshooting during an ECMO run.
