Abstract
Machine learning (ML) has advanced substantially in the past couple of decades. ML methods can now capture and represent complex relationships and are increasingly robust and versatile. As such, they are now used in many applications. This chapter reviews existing ML methods and puts them into perspective. It discusses the strengths and weaknesses of each method and provides future prospects.
