Liquid fuel conversion using gliding discharge in Tornado for direct use in solid oxide fuel cells

Abstract
Conversion of liquid hydrocarbon fuels to produce synthesis gas using non-equilibrium gliding discharges is performed using a reverse vortex flow ("tornado") reactor. Part of the integrated system is plasma reformer, which utilizes syngas (CO + H 2 ) for direct use in a solid oxide fuel cell for onboard conversion liquid fuels into electricity. This integrated system can be an advance power generator that can be used in remote areas where only hydrocarbon fuel sources are available and have potential military applications.
