Multivariable Nonlinear Control of a Continuous Polymerization Reactor
1992 American Control Conference, v 1, pp 607-614
Jun 1992
Abstract
In this experimental study, the Globally Linearizing Control (GLC) technique is applied to control temperature and conversion in a continuous stirred tank polymerization reactor by manipulating (i) two coordinated heat input variables, the power to an electrical heater and the inlet cooling water flow rate, and (ii) the flow rate of an inlet initiator stream. The performance of the controller is evaluated in terms of its ability in performing fast and smooth reactor startup and tracking set-point changes.
