Abstract
A method of parameter estimation for a class of nonlinear systems is presented in this paper. The parameter estimation method is model-inversion-based, computationally efficient, and simple to use. It can provide accurate estimates of unknown, time-varying or constant, process parameters by using readily available measurements. The application and performance of the estimation method are illustrated and compared with those of parameter estimation via state estimation by using a jacketed chemical reactor example, for which reaction-heat rate and overall heat-transfer coefficient are estimated.
