Abstract
The increase in noncommunicable diseases in low- and middle-income countries is more rapid, and has worse consequences than in highincome countries, according to the Council on Foreign Relations. [...]the challenge of combating noncommunicable diseases along with undernutrition is substantially greater in these countries. [...]a framework to aid in understanding food system effects from environmental, health, social and economic perspectives and inform related agricultural policy and practice was released in January by the Institute of Medicine and National Research Council.
