About

Ogechukwu Menkiti, MD, is a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Drexel University College of Medicine. He is the vice chair for outreach, community partnerships, and innovation/integration at St Christopher’s Hospital for Children. He is the medical director of the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Program and the Regional Fetal Evaluation Program at St Christopher’s Hospital for Children.


RESEARCH

Dr. Menkiti’s research interests include defining the inflammatory response to extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in the pediatric population following initiation of ECMO. Dr Menkiti designed an ex vivo ECMO model that allows the study of blood- circuit interactions and its contribution to the resultant inflammatory milieu created in pediatric ECMO patients.


Ogechukwu Menkiti, MD, is an attending neonatologist and perinatologist at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. His clinical interests include the treatment of pediatric patients with cardiopulmonary failure, disorders of the newborn, respiratory failure and persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn. Dr Menkiti has won several awards including Oksana Korzeniowski Patient Care Award for his outstanding skills and commitment in the clinical care of patients and teaching which substantially improved the skills and knowledge of residents, students and faculty.
